Judges were given a theoretical budget of $3 million and asked to "invest" in the presenting companies. The three companies that had the most money "invested" in their product or technology at the end of the competition were named the winners.

Now in its fifth year at the New Energy Symposium, the Investment Pitch Competition has showcased 58 early stage companies that have raised over $160 million in venture capital and government funding to develop clean energy technologies, products, and services.
