New York State Solar Energy Business Outreach Workshop
Developing a Commercialization Roadmap for Solar Energy in New York State
February 21, 2007 ~ Albany, NY

Description
New York is the home of innovative companies developing products for the PV industry, active companies installing PV systems and engineering integrated PV solutions for new construction, and leading organizations promoting the technology and developing critical standards and infrastructure for the industry.

To assist in raising awareness of the role of PV in New York and to obtain views and insights of key stakeholders, the Energy and Environmental Technology Applications Center (E2TAC) at the College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering (CNSE) in partnership with the New York Solar Energy Industries Association (NYSEIA) and New Energy New York (NENY) hosted a half-day workshop at CNSE's Albany NanoTech Complex.

The event featured a roundtable discussion among 35 business leaders and policy experts about important challenges and opportunities facing the PV industry in the state of New York.  Discussions focused on developing a commercialization roadmap for deploying and commercializing solar energy in New York. Panelists were also encouraged to identify key policy suggestions that would stimulate economic development by embracing solar technology. Feedback was positive and committees were formed to head three main areas: policies and incentives, installations, manufacturing/scale and piloting.
